Plain-language summary: ClipTurn processes videos locally on your Windows device. The app does not upload your videos, require an account, serve ads, or collect analytics, telemetry, or crash reports. It keeps the local records needed to run jobs and prove results. The website uses no analytics or tracking cookies.

1. Scope and publisher

This Privacy Policy applies to ClipTurn version 1.0.0, the ClipTurn listing in the Microsoft Store, and this website. ClipTurn is published by FixQuotes (“FixQuotes,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

Microsoft’s privacy statements cover Microsoft Store, Windows, and other Microsoft services; they do not replace this policy for ClipTurn. Other websites and services linked from ClipTurn are governed by their own policies.

2. What the ClipTurn app processes

ClipTurn accesses a video only when you select it, drop it into the app, or invoke a ClipTurn command for it in File Explorer. Processing happens locally using Windows media components, locally installed codecs, and components included with the app.

The app may process:

  • the video and audio content of the selected file;
  • the filename and full path;
  • embedded metadata such as capture time, camera information, GPS location, track language, colour information, and HDR data;
  • container, codec, stream, geometry, duration, and device-capability information needed to plan and verify a rotation; and
  • file identity information such as size, timestamps, file ID, attributes, and a SHA-256 fingerprint.

A selected video may contain personal information—including identifiable people, voices, locations, or timestamps. ClipTurn handles that content only to perform, recover, report, and verify the operation you requested.

3. Information stored locally

ClipTurn stores operational records in the app’s Windows package data folder on your device. It does not write verification receipts into the video, an alternate data stream, or a sidecar file beside the video.

Local informationWhy it is usedTypical retention
Settings Theme, processing policy, concurrency, backup, timestamp, and failed-file preferences. Until changed or the app’s packaged data is removed.
Queue, job, and recovery records Run work safely, recover interrupted operations, and show job outcomes. Records can include full source paths and result messages. Queue and recovery items are cleaned up when safely completed. Durable job history has no automatic expiry and remains until packaged data is removed.
Verification receipts Bind a result to the exact file using path, identity, size, timestamps, attributes, SHA-256, app version, outcome, and proof flags. No automatic expiry; retained in packaged data until that data is removed.
Working files Create, verify, and atomically commit a candidate while protecting the source. Normally deleted after completion. Failed candidates may remain if you enable that option, and recovery artifacts can remain when cleanup cannot safely finish.
Optional backups Keep a copy when you enable in-app backup. Stored with your files until you delete them. They are outside packaged app data.

If you use an explicit “Copy path” or “Copy report” action, Windows clipboard content may remain after ClipTurn closes until you replace it or Windows clears it.

4. Uploads, sharing, and external services

No ClipTurn upload or tracking service

ClipTurn does not send videos, filenames, paths, media metadata, settings, job records, verification receipts, analytics, telemetry, or crash reports to FixQuotes. The app has no account system, advertising system, or cloud-processing service.

Microsoft Store and Windows

Microsoft distributes and updates the app. When you use Microsoft Store or Windows, Microsoft may process account, device, license, download, reliability, or diagnostic data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. ClipTurn itself does not receive Microsoft error-report data in version 1.0.0.

Codec and help links

If you choose a remediation link, ClipTurn opens an allowlisted Microsoft Store product page or Microsoft support page. These fixed links do not include your file, path, or video data.

Synced folders

ClipTurn does not upload files. If you rotate a fully available file inside OneDrive or another synced folder, your sync provider may upload the changed file as part of that provider’s normal operation. Review the provider’s settings and privacy policy.

5. The clipturn.app website

This website is delivered as static files. It does not use analytics, advertising cookies, tracking pixels, browser storage, accounts, or contact forms. Its fonts and screenshots are hosted with the site. The empty video placeholder does not connect to YouTube or another video service.

As with any website, hosting and security infrastructure may temporarily process ordinary request information such as IP address, browser identifier, requested URL, timestamp, and security events to deliver and protect the site. FixQuotes does not use that information for advertising or visitor profiling and does not maintain a ClipTurn visitor database.

Links to Microsoft and FixQuotes open separate services. Information you submit through the ClipTurn contact page is handled under the FixQuotes website privacy policy.

6. Retention and your controls

Windows removes ClipTurn’s packaged local settings, job history, queue data, and verification records when you uninstall the app. Uninstalling does not undo rotated videos or remove files outside packaged data, including optional backups, safely preserved recovery files, synced copies, or clipboard content.

You control app data by:

  • choosing which videos ClipTurn may open;
  • choosing whether the in-app workflow keeps a backup;
  • deleting videos, backups, retained failed candidates, or clipboard content that you control; and
  • uninstalling ClipTurn to remove its packaged local state.

7. Security and children

ClipTurn uses local file-identity checks, staging, rollback handling, and independent verification to reduce the risk of replacing the wrong file or accepting an invalid result. No software or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure, so keep an independent backup of important files.

ClipTurn is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children. The app does not create profiles or knowingly collect children’s information for FixQuotes.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information held by a controller, including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, and complaint rights. ClipTurn’s app records remain on your device and are not available to FixQuotes, so FixQuotes cannot retrieve or delete that local information remotely.

For information you intentionally send to FixQuotes through a support channel, or for a question about website infrastructure, use the contact link below. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when ClipTurn, the website, hosting, or legal requirements change. The revised policy will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. A future version that adds online processing, telemetry, crash reporting, accounts, or other data practices will describe those practices before they apply.
